Friday, January 1, 2010 - New Year's Day

Wow, I can't ever remember not ringing in the New Year! It went right on by me this year. I had intended to watch the ball drop and totally missed it. I stayed home last night because this crud that I have. Thankfully, the meds have kicked in just enough so that now I can swallow without wanting to shriek in pain. Now that the cold has no competition from my throat for attention, it is also starting to kick in. My right ear is plugged a bit and head is pounding. I can't ever remember being this sick. But . . . this morning I can drink my coffee so life is, if not good at the moment, getting better.

Harold is ecstatic that he has finally found "Ice Road Truckers." It's much more interesting to watch now that we have been to Alaska and can see in our minds the places that they mention.

My plan today is to try and get some cleaning done in short increments. We'll see how that goes. I don't want to push it, because the weekend is upon us and I have 2 masses to play.

Word of the day:
The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God - Solemnity
Today the Church celebrates : Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 2:16-21.

So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them. When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
