God Bless Our Troops

Still pluggin along getting inventory ready for our fall shows.  Because yesterday was Memorial Day, I did not make soap.  I spent the day down with my daughters and 3 of the grandkids.  We went to a parade in Sheridan, went to lunch, and hit up a few garage sales.  It was just fun hanging out together.

Today I made some more electric grubbies, some more tarts, more candles, and soap scented with Fairy Tales.
I am using some new soap colorants.  The company I first bought my micas from is out of business and I have been having trouble finding soap stable colorants.  I found some liquid ones that I tried out in the soap above.  Because the soap is called Fairy Tales, I kept the colors soft.

Word of the day:
Tuesday of the Eighth week in Ordinary Time
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10:28-31.
Peter began to say to Jesus, "We have given up everything and followed you.»
Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and (the) last will be first."

I think I am finally getting caught up on some things. Today I finished Ben's quilt.  I haven't done a lot of quilting lately and I kind of miss it.  I'm hoping that I can get more of it in this summer.

I've also been working on fall inventory.  I finished a Wildlife Grubby - this one scented with Country Cinnamon Buns.  I also poured another one scented with Cider Mill.

Got some tarts poured and some more jar candles done.  We should be in good shape come fall.

Word of the Day
The Ascension of the Lord -
Solemnity - Year B Feast of the Church : Ascension of Jesus Christ, solemnity
Saint(s) of the day : St. Paschal Baylon

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 16:15-20.

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents (with their hands), and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.)

I can't believe how fast time is flying these last couple of months.  Yesterday was Monday, so that means I made a batch of soap.  Since I am always a season ahead, I have started on the products for our fall craft shows. Last night's soap scent was Enchanted Apple.  It smells sooooo good.  I've also been working on candles and room spray - so the house smells like apples, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon sticks and all those wonderful fall smells!

Last Saturday we had a "Welcome to theWorld, Ben" party combined with a "Congratulations, Jamie" party. We really lucked out with the weather because there was heavy rain in a lot of places in Michigan. It was overcast but only sprinkled a little. It was a great day. We got a 4 generations pic

And an "all the grandkids" pic

And a lovely Soule Family Pic

Word of the day: Tuesday of the Sixth week of Easter
Saint(s) of the day : St Isidor the Farmer

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 16:5-11. But now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: sin, because they do not believe in me; righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. Coming of the Advocate

Monday is soap making night and last night I made Apple Jack 'n Peel. This scent remains a favorite in almost anything we make. The swirls didn't turn out as I had hoped.  I'm trying a few new things regarding swirling.  So far I haven't settled on one that I like.  This soap smells sooooo good.  It feels like fall here today.

Last week was the annual Maple Syrup Festival in Shepherd.  We had our best year and are really grateful for all the people who support us.

Following the Syrup Festival we finished up our donation for the Girls on the Run Race bags.  This is a cause we are privileged and honored to support.  This year Clayton helped me package them up while his mom, sister, and brother were at the Syrup Princess pageant.  I already have some cool ideas for next year's soaps.

Now I am concentrating on getting the house ready for a celebration of the arrival of Ben
And we are also celebrating Jamie getting his GED.  He worked long and hard for it and we are very proud of him. So far I have the laundry room done.  I have quite a way to go.

Word of the day:
Tuesday of the Fifth week of Easter Saint(s) of the day : St Victor
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14:27-31a.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard me tell you, 'I am going away and I will come back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe. I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over me, but the world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded me. Get up, let us go.
