God Bless Our Troops

Well, the house is a glorious wreck as it always is on the day after Christmas. I left it to head up town. Today is my big shopping day of the year. I hit Walmart to stock up on some supplies for the business and for my own gift giving for next year. Since I make most of my gifts, I concentrate on packaging. I found some great deals. I ran into several people I know and generally just enjoyed the afternoon. I'm exhausted from all of the prep work and I look forward to not having to rush through it next year. I like to take my time and enjoy the process. I am now off to Flylady my way through the mess.

Have a great day all!!!

Word of the day:
Feast of Saint Stephen, first martyr
Gospel
Mt 10:17-22

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”

Thoughts from the cornfield:
I often wonder if, when put to the test, I will remain steadfast or if I will cave out of fear. I remember back when the Columbine shootings happened, there was a story of a young girl names Cassie Burnall. One of the shooters held a gun to her head and asked her if she believed in Jesus Christ. When she answered yes, he shot her. I like to think that I would have the courage to stand up for what I believe if there was a gun pointed at my head. But what if I were asked the same question but the gun wasn't point at me but at one of my loved ones? What then? It's thinking about things like that that often cause me to pray for an increase in faith.

God bless our troops!
